Special cake for Staff apreciation - ALMI
Today,we had a potluck lunch. Staff Apreciation Potluck Lunch, that was the name given.ALMISS, in its agenda corresponding to this year theme "From student to the society", planned several activities to serve the different level of society; the students, the staff and outside society. With limited sources and energy, ALMISS bravely tried to benefit whatever they have to achieve these objectives.
It aims to develop a condusive environment, taking care of each other, sharing, and ready to lend its shoulder to those inneed. Because as students, ALMISS understand that the condusive and enjoyable environment are vital in fostering excellent among the students.
Going back to the potluck lunch, every students bring their own dish; Syrian, Palestinian, Malaysian, Western etc. It is various and nice looking. I made special icing cake with decoration and written "Staff Apreciation, Thank you from ALMISS". I wake up since 3 o' clock and mix the ingredient. I hoped our neighbours did not get disturbed with the machine sound. I baked it for... 45 minutes on the stove with nonstick pot. I do have oven, but do not have a big enough baking tin for the special cake. Waiting on the bed with countdown timer in my mobile phone, I found the cake still runny after 45 minutes. 30 minutes more, then 20 minutes more, and 20 minutes more, and then alhamdulillah, it was ready. Alhamdulillah it look nice from outside. Oh, I should thanked K Nashitah for giving me the recipe (but afterthat I found that K Nashitah cake is better than mine. For sure the recipe is not fault though.)
Than I need to leave the cake to cool or the butter cream will run over it.
In the morning, my husband prepared the breakfast while I am busy with the cream. Mixing the butter with the icing sugar and adding milk. Here came the fluffy cream.
Spreading it on to and in between the cake (I cut the cake horizontally into two) with white cream. Some pink cream for the edge finishing. I would like to make flowers from breadcrumb but the time getting short, and I saw strawberries on the desk. So I grabbed two of them and put them nicely at the centre and finished with soft green cream for vines and leaves.
I keep some darker pink cream for the writings and got dressed up to go to the Institute. I keep the cake in the student's common room fridge, and get my way to have somtime to study.
11.30, I went down and prepare the dining hall with cakes, and other foods.
